Guardianship & Administration & how it relates within the Aged Care Facility


Anna Gauci, Manager Information Support NSW Office of the Public Guardian, NSW Department of Justice will provide advices on the following topics.

  1. Substitute decision maker: Their obligations and what to do if they are not acting in a client's best interests;
  2. Capacity & Consent: How to assist someone who's decision making capacity is changing or being questioned;
  3. The role and limitations: Enduring Power of Attorney (EPOA) and Advanced Health Directive (AHD) documents and how they relate to everyday decisions; and
  4. Legal and ethical considerations: Guardianship and administration system and how it relates within the aged care facility: DON or representative role.

For our new graduates/less experienced or newly appointed managers we are often asked how the guardianship board and administrative system operates - it processes - this could be almost a session on its own.
